CS31 ARCNET DDE Server

The Klinkmann Automation CS31 ARCNET DDE Server (CS31ARCN) is a Microsoft Windows application program that acts as a a communication protocol Server and allows other Windows application programs to access to data from ABB Procontic CS31 automation system using ARCNET network. Data from ABB CS31 07KT93 Controllers are accessed by commands for operator control and test functions used in communication hrough CS31 SYSTEM Bus (COM1 port of the Controller). In case of CS31ARCN Server communication these CS31 SYSTEM Bus ASCII telegrams are packed into ARCNET telegrams.

Any Microsoft Windows program that is capable of acting as a DDE or FastDDE Client may use the CS31ARCN Server.

There are following CS31ARCN Server versions available:

- CS31ARCN DDE Server (32-bit), can be used on MS Windows NT and 95 (98).

FEATURES

Requires a PC bus ARCNET adapter card (8 or 16 bit, e.g. ARCNET-PC130E Network Controller Board) based on the SMC ARCNET chip to communicate with ABB Procontic CS31 07KT93 Controllers.

Fast data access (2,5 Mhz) to data from the ARCNET bus.

The Server supports up to 32 jobs for data transfer between the computer and Procontic CS31 automation system. One unical job number is used for communication with each controller.

The Server supports two host computer communication with the same controller.

Not necessary the specially prepared internal program running on the ABB Procontic CS31 controller to access the data from the controller.

The Server minimizes system message traffic by dynamically calculating and optimizing poll lists to read only, client-requested items/points.

The Server provides a communication status flag for each topic.

The Server supports standard DDE among multiple applications.

SPECIFICATIONS

Hardware: IBM or compatible 386/486/Pentium equipped with a minimum of 4 MB RAM (16 MB RAM for Windows NT). May require more memory to run other Windows programs simultaneously.

Software: Microsoft Windows 95 (98) and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.

Maximum Connections: Up to 8 ABB Procontic CS31 07KT93C PLCs can be connected on the ARCNET network.

Devices Supported: ABB Procontic CS31 07KT93C with R161 Central Unit.
